Melanotan 2 vs KPV: the same parent
The MT2 peptide (Melanotan II, MT-II) and KPV both come from alpha-MSH. MT2 is a cyclic seven-residue analogue that keeps the melanocortin-receptor activity; the 1996 phase I pilot recorded skin darkening in volunteers at the doses tested (Dorr et al., Life Sciences 1996). KPV is the three-residue tail with no pigmentation activity, studied for inflammation instead.
